Monterey County Amateur Radio Emergency Service

Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), is a nationwide field organization of the American Radio Relay League, consisting of Amateur Radio Operators that have voluntarily registered their services and become part of an organized team. The trained operators of Monterey County ARES provide reliable primary and secondary communication links for the Monterey County Office of Emergency Services, Emergency Operations Centers in cities throughout the county, as well as organizations such as the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and the major local hospitals. Local ARES members are registered in the Monterey County Disaster Service Worker Volunteer Program, as well as the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES).
